Sketchbook General advice on drawing/coloring digitally? July,2012

Howdy!,

I was looking for some advice in regards to drawing/coloring digitally, I have been drawing for some time so its more retaliated to getting that paper/lead sketch in PC.

I can do the basic functions in photoshop and illustrator but dont know if there are the best apps?.

Also im left handed but use the mouse with my right hand so creating paths is not as accurate as I like, is using a USB tablet much better then mouse?.

What apps are you guys using?.

Thanks :oneye:

Sketchbook Breaking Plateau July,2012

Finally have sometime on my hands to post. I've been telling myself to do this. but days becomes weeks and weeks becomes month and so on and son. It's not much but here it is. I feel very embarrassed posting this, since I have not progressed much. But thats what I get for not drawing often, and letting life get in the way. I plan to be studying from the Michael Hampton - Figure Drawing: Design and Invention. My goal is maybe have my work be good enough to be able to make a living off of it. But it's seems so far stretched. Since I realized I'm very slow in grasping all of this and my time is very limited.

Also, the two pictures below. First one is from imagination. Second one I referenced the pose from a Uniqlo magazine. Third one, is a painting I did for Illustration class with acrylic. : /

Sketchbook "Love Factory" - Facebook Game Visual Development July,2012

Last years summer I embarked on a very interesting Facebook game project. It was supposed to be a game were you manage a production line for condoms manufacturing, testing, packaging and selling. You can find it HERE.

I was the only artist on the team and so everything visual was up to me to develop. Everything from character design, environment design to UI design was developed in just a little under 9 weeks. Of course some of the things I had to do I had to learn on the go. Some others were a bit more easy because of my prior experience with gaming companies like Namco Bandai, Gameloft and other companies like American Greetings Interactive (where most of my character design and animation experience came from).

Here is some character design and the Game Splash for this project.

Sketchbook GreenMonk's sketchbook! July,2012

Hey there :)
I'm not new here, just haven't posted anything ever, if I recall correctly.
Summer is here, I'm done with college, so I thought I'd put some sketches here, hoping I'll improve a lot in the process.
(sorry for all, if any, spelling or gramatical errors, I haven't written anything in english in a while)
So, let's get this started :P
I'm putting some older sketches first ;)
Cheers, D.

Hi! :)
I have a small drawing project this summer which basically is me getting better at sketches and stuff. I'll be posting new sketches every or every other day and am grateful for any tips or comments you would be able to give me.

These images are from this spring, and my aim is that by the end of the summer, my skills will be muuuch better:D

Sketchbook need help making it work June,2012

I can't figure this out. I know there needs to be reflected light from the red glow of the dying soldier, but I can't imagine how I can pull it off. Also the flames and smoke need improvement. As does just about everything because it isn't coming together. How can I take this to the next level?

Sketchbook Kirk McCosker's portfolio. June,2012

High my name is Kirk McCosker and I'd like to know what I can do to improve my work. I have a feeling that there are skill deficits I'm unaware of that are holding me back.

This is a part of a crimson daggers contest I partisipated in.

Another Crimson Dagger entry I participated in. I decided to brush up on my sprite art skills for this one.

This is an int from a dying forest.

Here's my take on gauntlet.

Pirate time hella fun.

He used to be designed by Rob Leifeild until he took an arrow to the knee.

All of these pieces are from earlier this year.
