Sketchbook Can you please critique these for me? June,2012

Yeah, I feel awkward about posting these because I feel like there's so much obviously wrong with them anyway...but if I could get feedback on anything I happened to miss, I feel like that'd be nice.

The first drawing is a kind of random character concept that I did. I wanted to draw a character with lots of small details, and was thinking of different types of birds and Aubrey Beardsley/Nouveau style artists as I drew this... It's really not much deeper than that.

The second one that I did is kind of a head shot of a character that I have. After doing the previous drawing of the random, standing person, I decided that it didn't make much sense to just have a character standing out in a single color void so I decided to try and give her some context. Also attempted to try and simplify the foliage behind her. I think it looks successful, though I could most certainly be incorrect on that. I'm not sure how to fix her derp eyes. >.<
